About

My character name is Zejus. I’m a level 80 dwarf priest who plays on the Muradin server. I’m part of the QUX guild. Most of the time I enjoy casual play: heroics, regular instances, battlegrounds, Wintergrasp, exploring, and leveling professions. Occasionally I’ll sign on for a raid or heroic but it’s not common.

You can check out my armory profile here.

I created this site to write about my favorite class and perhaps give some hints and tips to other players.

I’ve been playing WoW since October 2006.  I have a lovely wife, two beautiful daughters, and three dogs.

I really like your blog, its real and I can relate to your posts. I just switched to disc on my priest/dual spec really but am liking disc a lot. I have a lot of issues with mana conservation as disc, any suggestions? I know my gear is lacking but I’m going to start working on that. My character is Thermos on Terenas.

Hey Thermos,

Sorry I’m so late in responding. Your gear looks fine, to start. Obviously your mana situation will improve with gear so don’t get discouraged. It’s a shame you weren’t around in the days of unlimited Disc mana…finishing raid fights with 60% or more, those were the days!

To be honest, your spec needs a lot of work. I’d be glad to go into my reasoning if you’d like, but here’s a decent spec to start. You should notice a big improvement. One important thing to mention…as Disc, you should be using Penance almost every time it’s available. For that reason, pick up the talent that reduces it’s cooldown, as well as the glyph. You can afford to drop the 5 points that you have invested in decreasing the cast time of Greater Heal…you really shouldn’t be using it. If you’re relying on GH then that is probably why your mana situation is so bad.

Here’s the build I recommend. Stick to shield, renew, Prayer of Mending, Flash Heal, and Penance. Prayer of Healing if needed but be careful because it’s heavy on mana:

You still have 3 points to put wherever you’d like. Good luck!

Hey Tiffany, I know this is late, but I wanted to chime in on mana. The obvious solution is to get better gear. Better gear will have more spirit, intellect, mana/5 seconds, etc so you’ll notice an immediate improvement with some gear upgrades.

It’s difficult to say exactly why you’re running out of mana without seeing your spec and knowing how you use your spells. If you’re speced as holy, as you mentioned, glyph for Flash Heal in order to reduce its mana. Use Greater Heal and Prayer of Healing only when you must. If you’re about to begin a fight where you know you’ll have a tough time with mana, use your Shadowfiend when you’re at about 60% mana. After you reach 60% again, use a mana potion. If you get a lull and can take a few seconds off, use Hymn of Hope to regenerate some mana. By then, your Shadowfiend might be ready to go again.

Also, if you haven’t already, consider swapping out any +spell power gems/trinkets for items that contribute to mana regen (spirit, intellect, mp5). If you stack enough intellect and are grouped with a class that can bring Replenishment (Ret pallies, shadow priests, hunters, frost mages), you should have an easier time managing mana.

If the problem is that your tank/party is dying because your heals aren’t hitting hard enough, gear for more spell power. If you start running out of mana, swap out for some regen. Find the balance.

Wow, guild healer!? That’s great. And if you’re healing heroic PoS then you’ve got it down. I don’t heal in raid environments very often so maybe you’ll be the one giving the tips before we know it.

Good luck and keep us posted with your progress.
