This week I started an alt with a new friend of mine, Divina, since we’re both nostalgic for old world dungeons. She created a female dwarf warrior, and I originally created a rogue. After some thinking, I felt the urge to switch to an elemental shaman instead so that we ‘d have that pesky ‘tank and healer’ part out of the way for low level instances.
So far it’s…well, what the first 10 levels of any class is: mind-numbingly boring since there are only two different buttons to press, and one isn’t mana-efficient. But I’m sure that once I get Water Shield, Ghost Wolf, and a few different totems the class is going to be a ball to play.
Any of you guys play a shaman? Is there much to do in 5-mans beside HW, or CH spam? Thanks!

If you are at EU realm i can try to start a toon with you both also, for leveling fun…or maybe bring my lvl 14 priest…though we would have 2 healers
Don’t know much about shamans so i can’t really help you on that matter.
I am leveling as a resto shaman (for reasons unknown) and even as the healer I find myself switching up totems occasionally and running near melee range to drop magma totems (which I am pretty sure do not generate aggro) for extra AOE damage. When my PUGs are good and I have extra mana it’s always fun to do a bit of dps. It’s also nice to have two instant cast healing abilities that you can get fairly early on as resto. I should use Tidal Force more than I do because the crits offer useful bonuses to your target’s armour and your mana. I’m sure you probably know this all already.
Hey Rod, thanks for the comment. I’m playing on a US server, actually. If I was on a EU server I’d love to start another toon. I’d love to get max time on this old world content. These young whipper-snappers with their Ulduar….
Halzak, That sounds like a really awesome healing strat; and one completely unknown to me as I’ve always played a priest/druid. I actually was unaware of everything in your comment so I appreciate you explaining it. Thanks for the input. I’ll try to keep you updated. My shammie is only level 11 as of this comment.

I’ve run with Elemental Shammies (while leveling as DPS) and I’ve ran raids with them as a Holy Priest too. I definitely love their totems, and their heals too.
An elemental shammie, nice. I’m still on vacation so haven’t had a chance to play my lowbie warrior. I’ll be back in town this coming Tuesday I cannot wait to run lowbie instances with your toon. Nope, I cannot say too much about Shammies, Mine is level 7.
