Through my many PUGing adventures, I’ve grouped with many a douche-bag for a tank, but I’ve also stumbled upon a few great, courteous tanks. To express my gratitude, I’m going to start highlighting the great players, specifically tanks, that I’ve grouped with in-game.
Basim, a feral druid from the Khaz Modan server, Disciples of Azeroth guild, I salute you. He pulled at a great pace and whispered to make sure he wasn’t pulling too quickly. He wasn’t loaded with HP but his game was tight and made the run smoother than any tank I’ve grouped with for that particular instance….including the 50k+ HP tanks.
Conversely, I grouped with another tank tonight for H-AN, who pulled the first two groups of mobs, then intentionally AFKed. Since he was leader, we had to wait 15 minutes for the internal kick timer to expire before we could proceed. To kill time and frustration, we pulled the next pack of mobs and fled to the instance portal for the sheer joy of watching the tanks HP disappear until his death. How mature we are.

haha, I must be lucky with pug tanks, they mostly seem to be fine.
The worst however are the dps. Deary me I’ve seen all kinds of things from dps, things which I never want to see ever again in my life! Yeah some people really are that bad.
If I do come across bad tanks, I try to give them tips and tricks….its up to them if they listen I guess. Every Little helps!
You’re right. DPS tend to be the worst, but usually you can get by in a heroic with terrible DPS vs. a terrible tank.
I don’t even mind a tank that isn’t skilled. It’s the tanks that are cocky, condescending, and do stupid crap like pull an entire hallway without warning that drives me up a wall.
Thanks for the comment!
Then after pulling said hallway they blame the healer for failing to keep them up!
do you do any raiding at all?
I am a new 80 healer and had to laugh at the revenge you pulled on the Tank. Next time, I would go back in and rez him and do it over and over to make sure he has a healthy repair bill.
I agree, a good tank makes all the difference in a run.
Have had some great luck lately with PuG tanks. Over the past week everyone seems to know what they are doing, don’t over-pull, actually ask the mana needy if they are ready…the whole deal. Makes ita ton more fun!
